Anyone else remember this song?
Some of us might still be asking this very question--where have all the cowboys gone? And why do cowboys have such allure?
Or just maybe it's how those cowboys look in their chaps.
Or, rather, how they look out of their chaps . . . .
But if you can't hie down to Texas or some other place where cowboys seem to be, then the next best thing is reading some romances that feature some hot, sexy cowboys and the women who love them.
First up is Lori Wilde's THE COWBOY TAKES A BRIDE, which doesn't release until 3/27, but is utterly charming and something you can cozy up to with a hot cup of tea or coffee. I really enjoyed reading this one, and will glom up this whole series up.
Back cover:
Welcome to Jubilee, Texas: where everyone knows everybody’s business—especially if that business is love!
Ex-champion bull rider turned cutting horse cowboy Joe Daniels isn’t quite sure how he ended up sleeping in a horse trough wearing nothing but this Stetson and cowboy boots. But now he’s wide-awake and a citified woman is glaring down at him. His goal? Get rid of her ASAP. The obstacle? Fighting the attraction he feels towards the blond-haired filly with the big, vulnerable eyes.
When out-of-work wedding planning Mariah Callahan learns that her estranged father has left her a rundown ranch in Jubilee, she has no choice but to accept it. Her goal? Redeem her career by planning local weddings. The obstacle? One emotionally wounded, hard-living cowboy who stirs her guilt, her heartstrings, and her long-buried cowgirl roots…
You might ask? What's this book about?
It's awesome, that's what this book is about!
No, seriously, what is this book about, Elyssa?
Okay, okay, here you go:
A girl from the wrong side of the tracks, Tara Jean Sweet knows that opportunity will never knock. She'll have to seize it. Elderly Texas rancher Lyle Baker has a dying request: He will give Tara Jean a stake in his leather business in exchange for a little family subterfuge. All Tara Jean has to do is play the part of a gold-digging fiancée to lure his estranged children home. And the mission is soon accomplished.
Now, Lyle's gone—and his ridiculously handsome son, Luc, an ice hockey superstar sidelined by injuries, is the new owner of Crooked Creek ranch. He's also Tara Jean's boss. But being so close to sinfully sweet Tara Jean does crazy things to his priorities. Like make him want to kiss her deepest secrets from those irresistible lips. But when Tara Jean's past demands a dirty showdown, will Luc stay and fight?
(Molly sent me this book--I am a lucky, lucky girl because the Universe listened to my prayers of reading this book early; as Tiff knows, I've been whining for the last six months of wanting to read this book, lol.)
Y'all, I LOVED this book. Like hardcore love. Like I love this like I love chocolate, and Richard Armitage, and Jeff Buckley's Hallelujah, and Gone With the Wind, and my dog.
In other words: I love this a whole lot.
The best way I can describe this book? It's like the BEST dessert you've ever eaten, and you want seconds and thirds immediately after finishing the book. Molly's writing is totally her own--so freaking awesome--but her writing also does remind me of the best of Susan Elizabeth Phillips. Needless to say, it's my favorite book so far. And I'm totally a Molly O'Keefe fangirl.
You need to read this book!
Seriously.
Pre-order it now. Buy it on release date. Whatever you do, read this book. Or I'll give you the glinty-eyed stare. ;)
Okay, so these are definitely not cowboy how we think of cowboys. But they're the cowboys if you will of the historical era. And bonus? They all release on 2/28!
There's Sarah MacLean's A ROGUE BY ANY OTHER NAME, which is the start of her new series. ABOUT SEXY LORDS WHO OWN A GAMBLING DEN. I mean, seriously, how can you resist that?! Plus, it's Sarah f-ing MacLean, and you all know that she puts the awe in awesome.
Plus, I think she has the prettiest cover.
And then there's Katharine Ashe's WHEN A SCOT LOVES A LADY, the start of her new series about ex-spies. Which, HELLO, total win!
After years as an agent of the secret Falcon Club, Lord Leam Blackwood knows it's time to return home to Scotland. One temptation threatens his plans—Kitty Savege, who warms his blood like a dram of fine whiskey. But a dangerous enemy stands in the way of desire, and to beat this foe Leam needs Kitty's help . . .
Kitty never wanted to spend her holidays in a wretched country village! With snow up to the windows, escape is nowhere in sight. A roguish Scottish lord, however, is. His rough brogue sends heat from Kitty's frigid toes to her chilled nose, but she's confident she can withstand that. What she cannot control is the reaction of her guarded heart when she discovers this beast is no beast at all . . .
And Sophia Nash returns! I love her writing, and BETWEEN THE DUKE AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA is fantastic. It's also the start of her new series, which is described as a cross between The Hangover and Entourage but in the Regency era.

Is it the hat?
Maybe we like cowboys because of the . . . boots?
Or perhaps how the whole lassoing . . . .
Or just maybe it's how those cowboys look in their chaps.
Or, rather, how they look out of their chaps . . . .

Lastly, we have the fabulous Caroline Linden, who releases the second in her series BLAME IT ON BATH. I absolutely love Caroline's stories and I especially love this new series of hers.
Also, I think Caroline has a fabulous cover--I love the setting and the colors.
So, do you like cowboys? Why or why not? And what books are you looking forward to reading??? Any good recommendations?

There seems to be a slew of cowboy books coming out! I like cowboys, they are hot for some reason (I don't know any)! LOL
And I love that Sarah Maclean cover. It's so, so, so purty!
Yeehaw! But having actually ridden a mule down the Grand Canyon with some cowboys, I have to say I was too frightened to be turned on, LOL.
Thanks for all the book recs!
Tiff, I know! There does seem to be a lot of cowboys in romance lately. And not only does Sarah have a purty cover, but the stepback is incredibly hot!
Maggie, I would be frightened, too! Riding down a steep incline is so not my type of thing, lol.
Yes I like cowboys, they're just so strong and rugged. I'm looking forward to reading all of the above, in addition to An Affair with Mr. Kennedy by Jillian Stone.
