NaNoWriMo

It's National Novel Writing Month! I wasn't going to blog about this since I often don't participate in this event annually (and I'm not sure I can write 50K in one month--most I've ever done is 40K), but I do cheer on friends and set significant writing goals for myself for the month of November.

How many of our blog readers are joining the NaNoWriMo madness?

While I might not be officially signed up, I do have writing goals this month - to work on two projects simultaneously and accomplish a great deal of writing on both before the edits come in for the first book in my new trilogy--which I'm calling The Mayfair Chronicles.

So, let this be a goal setting month, readers.

Share your goals with us in the comments. And we can all hold each other accountable for achieving those goals!

I just finished a sort-of-related-to-writing goal---a complete overhaul of my writing room. It's now so sparkly I hope I can feel comfortable to write in it, LOL.

I'm almost 19,000 words into an as-yet unsold project, so keep your fingers crossed for me. I'd like to write another 20,000 words this month (factoring Thanksgiving week madness, when inlaws and kids will be home and I'll have my hand up the turkey's butt). I've never done NaNo and just don't do well with an artificial sword of doom hanging over my head.

I'm going for it---of course, I need to write a lot more than 50k so we'll see if that happens or not. But I'm really going to try to make lots of words happen.

I love the metaphor "artifical sword of doom," Maggie. I think that's a very apt analogy for Nano and any deadline, lol.

I'm not going to do NaNo because I'm expecting to receive edits any day now...but I want to do as much writing as I can before then, so we'll see how many words that adds up to!

good luck everyone NaNo-ing this month :)

No NaNo for me this year. I sort of did it in September and that was only 27K words but that's really good for me. Busting my ass to finish for the GH and get the entry in. 5K from the finish line, then the real work begins.

Love that metaphor, Maggie. I'm the same way, which is why I stay away from Write Or Die.

Love the title of the new series, Tiff.

"Going to try to make lots of words happen"--Elyssa, I'm with you. I won't formally sign up for NaNoWriMo, but I'd like to hit 50K anyway. That'll be a personal best for me if I make it!

Maggie, I'm on the same wavelength as you... I need to clean out my house to create a nice writing environment... Fingers, toes (on the right foot) and hair is all crossed for you!

Ely! GOGOGOGOGOGOGOGOGO!!!!!!! I might join you for some of it. I'd love to write about 20K this month. More if I really hunker down!

JK! You write like the wind anyway! You'll rock it in the word count!

Terri, that's a fantastic number of words! You should be very proud of yourself... and Seriously, I'm not a 50K-er in one month, but I'm willing to set a lower goal! And Thank you!

Theresa, You can do it!!!!!!!!!!!! Just remember, there is no going back for rereads or you'll get stuck! And Stall! That's bad in NaNo month! LOL
