Falling Hard

Release day is almost here!

It seems like I've waited so long for this book of mine to be published. I started writing Falling Hard (which was just called "The Angel Book" in the beginning, and then something else equally as boring for a long time after that--I suck at titles).

But finally, July 18 will see my baby out into the world. I've written other books and I've had other release days...but this particular story and these particular characters have stuck with me. I haven't been able to revisit their world just yet because of some of the other projects on my plate this year, but I'm finally going to have that chance now and I'm so excited. I love writing series, and reading series. Guessing what will happen in the next book and realizing that I was so far off the mark--that it was so much worse, and so much better--is the best feeling!

So Warring Angels book 2 is now in progress! YAY! It's going to be Cass's story...and if you don't know who Cass is yet, I guess you'll just have to read Falling Hard to find out.

To get in the bad-ass angel mood, I think we should all celebrate release day a little bit early, so let's start with a contest.

For a chance to win an advance copy of Falling Hard, share your favourite series--the kind that makes you desperate for the next book and the kind you would recommend to everyone (I just finished reading the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning and I'm looking for something new)

Falling Hard is available July 18 from Carina Press!

After a life filled with tragedy, rocker Gabriel Gunn thinks he's finally getting the better of his personal demons. Then he's attacked after a concert—and rescued by a warrior goddess brandishing a sword and white wings. As hard as it is to believe in an angelic bodyguard, Gabriel must face an even more impossible truth: he carries the devil's soul within him.

Amelia has been watching over Gabriel for years, using her angelic powers to prevent Lucifer's return. Now she must also protect him from warring angel factions with their own agendas. Amelia would do anything to avert another angelic war, even sacrifice her own emotions to avoid temptation. Yet with Gabriel she feels things she no longer wants to deny, and pleasure she never imagined.

But the closer Gabriel and Amelia get, the stronger Lucifer becomes. Will Amelia be forced to kill the man she's come to love to stop the war she's always feared?

I am a huge sucker for a series. I adore getting to know the MCs in a book and then getting to revisit them, learn more about them and follow their adventures and the adventures of other new MCs in a series. BUT, I have to follow a series from the beginning. If I discover I've inadvertently started to read a book that's in the middle of a series, I have to stop reading and go and buy the previous books. I know, a little compulsive, but what can I say.

And some my favorite series over the years have been the Skye O'Malley books by Bertrice Small, the Cynster series by Stephanie Laurens and the Liars Club, followed by the Royal Four by Celeste Bradley.

I usually only buy paperbacks, but if a new book in a series comes out in hardcover, I have to have it right away.

This is probably why I started writing a series, with reoccurring characters, for my first two books (unpublished).

Best of luck with your new series. Looking forward to reading it.

This book sounds awesome, JK. I'm looking forward to it.

Favorite series, huh? I am currently looking forward to the last three Nightkeeper books from Jessica Andersen. I used to wait impatiently for JR Ward's books, but the last couple have been a real disappointment.

I read Just Like Heaven a few weeks ago and now I'm looking forward to the next books in Julia Quinn's Smythe-Smith quartet.

Congrats on the release!!

mcromance57: I have heard of the Bertrice Small series but haven't read the books. I think I might have to finally check them out though!

Marn: I haven't read Jessica Andersen yet either, but I felt the same with the JR Ward books. I enjoy them, but not enough to fork out the extra money for the hardcovers

If you haven't read Bertrice Small you absolutely must. The books are from the 80s and my mom, sister and I used to wait for the next in the series to come out and then pass them around.

Skye O'Malley is the first in the series, you can google Skye O'Malley or Bertrice Small for a complete list of the books in the series.

I purchased them all on eBay a couple of years ago.

I hope you enjoy Bertrice Small as much as I have.

I can't wait to read this book. And you know I don't do paranormals usually, but fallen angels is one of my exceptions. Though if it wasn't before, it would have been after reading that awesome excerpt.

Since I have a past with musicians, you won me there too. :)

I'm reading Jill Shalvis' Lucky Harbor series and love it. As for recommendations, you can't go wrong with any of Nora's series. From her Irish settings to the Chesapeake Bay. And I still have to get through those wedding planners. Dang it.
