What I really want for Christmas...

Well, the tree is trimmed and the snow has fallen. Kiddo and I made gingerbread boys and girls last night and decorated them with many MANY candies! What's left but to await Santa's booted thump on the stair and hope he brings me something from my list.

I've been good this year...I promise. :)

I've also been able to relax a little bit this year, compared to the last two or three. I'm not killing myself trying to finish a WIP before a deadline (whether that's good or bad, let's not dwell on it)--which means I've been enjoying the season and spending more time with my family.

I don't know why Isometimes feel guilty for this. I think I've trained myself so well to "write every day" and "make the word goal" that the writing can take on a life of its own, and not in a good way.

There must be balance. I think this might be my new year's resolution...if I made new year's resolutions...or kept them.

But really. I do want to write. I want to write often and well and with everything I have. And yet, I know it's not the most important thing. The most important things are the people around me, the people who are sometimes asked to wait while I finish this chapter, or work out that plot. And there will always be another chapter, another twist to the plot. But the people around me won't wait forever.

I'm not going to be the woman who looks up from the screen a year or two from now to find that the ones I love have gone on ahead and made a life without me because they got tired of waiting for me to be free. However, I'm also not going to sacrifice my dream.

Which brings me back to balance...But I think I might save the HOW of managing this for another day. Let's just say it starts with a relaxing holiday playing Battleship with an 8 year old.

Before I go spend the holiday with my family, I want to tell you to make sure you put those bookstore gift certificates to good use on DECEMBER 28, 2010 and pick up your copy of MISTRESS BY MIDNIGHT by the fabulous Maggie Robinson!!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!

Ah look at that kitty! My cat would sit on my face and suffocate me in my sleep if I did that to him! LOL My dog on the other hand . . .

Maggie, I cannot wait for the release of this book. It's such an amazing book.

Enjoy the holidays everyone! It's a great time to spend with family and friends, and I'm going to do just that!

Thanks so much for the pimpage, Kris! I hope people have a little $ left after the holidays, LOL. And of course I'm giving a ton of books away on my blog tour (starting right here next week!), but I don't even want to stress about that yet. Gotta get through the holidays...two waves of company. Presents are still unbought & unwrapped. Must. Get. Organized.

Merry Christmas, everyone! Hope the Vixens' stockings are filled to the brim with good things!

Kris, I think it's all about finding that balance. Some days are better than others. :)

Happy Holidays, everyone!!! We'll be back on 12/28 to celebrate the release of MISTRESS BY MIDNIGHT.

Happy Holidays to you, Kris, and to all the Vixens. I know what you mean about finding that balance. I've found a kind of happy medium with writing weeknights so kiddo and I have weekends to do what we want. It's working for now, but then I'm not writing to a deadline. :)

Congrats on another release date, Maggie. The timing is perfect! As Kris says, everyone will have those gift cards in hand and your book will fly off the shelves.

I too love that cat picture, but Bumbles and Caelen would both have those antlers shredded before I got the camera. LOL!

HAPPY CHRISTMAS ALL!!

LOL, I could never do that with my cat either!

Maggie, CONGRATS! I can't wait to see this book on the shelves!

Balance, balance, balance. It's my new mantra. But you're right, Terri. When it becomes your job and you HAVE to meet your deadlines, a little shuffling of the priorities is sometimes in order and can be understandable!
