Eureka!

The other day I had a Eureka! moment. Now I want to tell you, when I was a little girl and first saw the work in print, I read it as ‘urkeroo’, some crazy combo of Urkel and Underoos. My family made fun of me, but the word stuck. So we all would say “Urkeroo!” when something clicked.

I was online (when am I not?) when I read the most interesting (to me) article. “Urkeroo!” I said to myself, “wouldn’t that make a fabulous romance series?” I wonder how many other romance writers saw it and said the same thing. This idea is so new to me, I haven’t even divulged it to the Vixens, or even begun to seriously think about it, as I do have two books to finish and two novellas to write from scratch at some point. But now I have this pretty, shiny idea that’s bouncing around. An editor might hate it, though, so I’m not counting chickens or contracts. But this was really the first “Ripped from the Headlines” moment I’ve ever had, and now I’m curious. Have you ever seen something in real life that you’ve said, “Urkeroo! I’ve just gotta write about this!”

Y'all don't want to know what my lovely, supportive e-mail was to Maggs halfway through today's blog. LOL.

I don't blame you for not spilling. How many ideas do I tell you all about? Too many. And how many actually get written? Three.

Probably closest "Urkeroo" for me was on the BB three years go when EJ said rock star heroes couldn't be done b/c of the lifestyle, and I went I can do it. It wasn't until last year that I got the story idea. But until it sells---if I'm so lucky---that what I thought three years ago will be proven true. Or false.

Oh... cool new idea!

I am too tired to even think about it... real life moments in relation to writing... hmmmm. I have no idea. I don't think so. Damn.... I need to read what you are reading! LOL

I had a Eureka moment recently too!

Actually, I don't know if I have Eureka moments -- my ideas tend to germinate for a long while as I twist them around in my head and let them grow into something viable.

But that little spark of idea that comes when you see something or hear something--Yesterday it was a name!

Oh, I love urkeroo ideas! I mean, eureka. :)

I just had one recently too, but it's more like Kris; I have to let it germinate and fester first. Maybe it won't amount to anything, but I think it sounds like a cool idea. :) We'll see....

Yay you, though, Maggie!

Well, the Vixens know I can't keep a secret now, LOL. Ely wormed it out of me.

Tiff, I spend way too much time trolling the Internet, but you never know when you're going to stumble across a gem.

Kris and Marnee, I'm going to have plenty of time to let this ferment. I hope I can still remember it when I get around to it, LOL.

She wormed it out of you, eh? Worked long and hard to make you spill your guts? :)

You saw the threatening message...nah, I'm easy. A pussy pushover, LOL.

When it takes all of one email, then you're definitely a pushover but that's the way we like it! :) (although it is Ely, she can be so persuasive in so few words)
